ABOUT MARCUS
Described as “warm, earnest, and confident” onstage (Boston Music Intelligencer), Marcus Huber is a Boston-based singer, performer, and voice teacher.
This year, Marcus made debuts with Boston Lyric Opera and Enigma Chamber Opera, performing in the choruses of Verdi's Macbeth and Britten's Curlew River. His season also included various cabaret and concert performances with Seaglass Theater Company and Josephine's Cabaret.
Marcus's 2024-25 season included an appearance with North Short Music Theatre, where he portrayed the role of Benjamin Guggenheim in Titanic, chamber music performances with Seaglass Theater Company and New Bedford Symphony, and concert appearances with Woods Hole Cantata Consort, singing the tenor solos in Mozart's Missa Brevis in F.
During the 2023-24 season, Marcus made role debuts as Tonio in La fille du régiment with Opera Company of Middlebury and Elder Hayes in Susannah with Delaware Valley Opera (NY). He appeared in concert as a soloist with Seaglass Theater Company in their Stars and Stripes concert, and as the tenor soloist in Haydn's Paukenmesse with the Greater New Bedford Choral Society.
Previously, Marcus performed the roles of George Gibbs in Rorem’s Our Town, Laurie in Adamo’s Little Women, David in Heggie's If I Were You, and William in Sankaram's The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace with Boston University Opera Institute.
Past concert performances include the tenor solos in Handel’s Messiah with Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra, Mozart’s Waisenhausmesse with the Boston University Singers and Chamber Orchestra, Haydn's Paukenmesse with Temple University Concert Choir, and Mozart's Missa longa with Thomas Jefferson University Choir.
Also at home on the musical theater stage, Marcus has performed in The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Fulton Theater, Hello! Dolly and Cinderella at The Ohio Light Opera, Summer of Song at Timbers Dinner Theater, and My Fair Lady with Servant Stage Company.
Other past credits include Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus, and Pisandro in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, as well as concert performances with Delaware Valley Opera and OperaLancaster.
Marcus has been a studio artist with Opera Neo, where he covered the roles of Marzio in Mozart’s Mitridate and Tempo in Handel’s Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, and was a young artist at The Ohio Light Opera where he performed Count Hugo Detlef and covered Prince Karl Franz in The Student Prince and covered Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance.
Marcus is a past winner of the Rhode Island Civic Chorale and Orchestra Collegiate Voice Competition and the OperaLancaster Young Artist Competition, and he has been a two-time semifinalist in the Lotte Lenya competition.
Marcus holds a Master of Music degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Temple University.
